Having fun so far - this is the sort of thing Opa isn't into, so that's what I do when he goes to work - I strolled through the streets in back of the hotel, it's typical inner city shopping district stuff. I got an ice coffee at Starbucks, noted the McD, BK, KFC locations just in case I need to resort to one of them for lunch, found a little street market in an alley and bought a chubby dragon fruit for a snack (50 Taiwan dollars) (a bit pricey) and a silk oriental look shirt for my Taiwan souvenir (390 T$). Good thing there are lots of T$ to the US$... I think the dragon fruit was US$ 1.50 but, I didn't have small change yet and the lady had no idea what I meant with my sign language, yeah, right - but she was the only one with dragon fruit... The lady from the clothes shop though, professional look and attitude and with a calculator in her pocket, she entered the amount into it so I could see, and we divided by 30 so I knew the US$s, and now I know that was $13 - $15. Very nice for a souvenir.
Then Mother Nature called on account of the ice coffee and I went back to the hotel, but I'm going back out for more exploring this afternoon.
