Tuesday was nice and relaxed. I read the rest of the book, went to the mall across the street for lunch. In the afternoon Josie picked me up and treated me to a spa for a stone massage. A bit tender on the sunburn spots, but otherwise heavenly... Then we went to a bistro and ordered a cup of coffee, a bit of fruit and one pastry to share - we didn't want to spoil our appetites for dinner. But because Josie knows everybody they couldn't help themselves and brought us the fruit, two pastries, and some chocolate mousse. I love having my dessert before eating my veggies!
Wednesday my diving class started at 8. First a quiz and "the" test, I passed, yeay, and then we went into the choppy water for the next two lessons. After Jollibee chicken for lunch, the last lesson, I passed, yeay, so now I'm a certified beginner; followed by a fun dive. We got down to 60 feet. In the evening Opa Henk arrived as well as Jurgen (Germany) and Sandra (Uruguay) and we went for a night dive. It gets dark really early so it isn't really at night. It's cool because in your flaslight you focus on a small area, the colors are brighter, and the fish are sleepy. This was also Opa's compass lesson for the advanced level. Afterwards we had fish and chips with Jurgen and Sandra and Ofir (New Zealand, Israel) at a place run by a Dutch guy. It's all very international.
Today I have another relax day. This will let the last two bits of sunburn heal. The heel is fine, by the way, I just put the band-aids on for padding. I went to the mall next door for some simple stuff: 50+ waterproof sunscreen, batteries, passport-sized pics for the dive certification, a little salad for lunch - it's a four story mall with multiple sections and it took me a good half hour to find my way out. So I got my exercise in for the day.
Here are a few of Opa's pictures. Barracudas, a sea turtle, and a pygmy sea horse.
